Reverse engineering: no drawings, no problem
The supplier went out of business. The drawings went missing in 2004. The only copy of the part is cracked and holding a machine together with hope. We capture it, measure what matters, rebuild it in CAD, and make you a new one, often better than the original.
How it works
- Capture: 3D scanning plus hand measurement for threads, bores and critical fits.
- Rebuild: Clean parametric CAD, modeled to what the part was meant to be, not just its worn-out shape.
- Improve (optional): Fix the weak spot that made it fail, or update it for modern materials and processes.
- Make it: Prototype it, test the fit, then build one or a small run. Most shops stop at the file. We don't.
Good fits
Discontinued or obsolete parts, legacy equipment, parts with no CAD, vintage parts you need to interface with, and one-off replacements that can't wait months for an OEM.
Size, speed and files
Anything from tiny components up to car-sized parts. Complicated projects typically take 1 to 2 weeks. CAD comes back native to your software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX and more) or as STEP.
FAQ
Can you reverse engineer a part without drawings or CAD? Yes, that's most of our reverse engineering work. We capture the part's geometry, measure the critical details by hand, and rebuild it in CAD.
Do you come to our facility? Yes. We're based in Dartmouth, MA, and travel for on-site measurement, inspection and engineering support wherever clients need us.
Can you make the part too, not just the file? Yes. That's the point of Obleek. We prototype it, test it, and build one or a small run.
